ABOUT EMILY VIETH

Hi there! I am an oil painter living in Monticello, Minnesota. My studio is in my apartment where I live with my husband, Truman. I am a representational painter, and I love painting ‘en plein air’ which is French for outdoors.

I have been drawing and painting since I was a kid, like most kids do, but I never really stopped. As I got older, I wanted to get better, so I watched many YouTube tutorials and taught myself how to draw, then paint, and eventually learned how to paint with oil paints.

The first time I used oil paints, it captured my heart, and although I like switching it up from time to time, no other medium has been able to hold my heart the same way oils has.

My hope is to bring beauty to your life through my paintings, and also to encourage anyone who has the desire to learn to oil paint. If I can do it, you can too!
